I have been using it pretty much exclusively for the recent sites I have been doing. It provides a great solution for clients who need to be able to update their sites themselves. I have grown to love it and now understand what everyone was trying to tell me when they told me to use it instead of blogger. If I ever get the time I plan to redo this site in WordPress. Until then...

No!Spec

Cat from Designers-Who-Blog.com turned me on to a site called NO!SPEC which sums up so many sickening feelings I get when I am talking to new customers or browsing ridiculous ads on craigslist. The point of the site is to encourage designers to know their self worth. It is simply not fair for someone to say "show me what you can do" and then say "no I think I'll pass" with no regard for designer's time. Everyone, even beginning designers, deserve to be paid something for their time.

Cat and I were debating whether or not unpaid internships fit into this catergory as well. In my opinion it is total crap and basically the same slap in the face as spec work. It's not too cool of these big bourjois design firms to act like they are giving you the opportunity of a lifetime by "letting" you do their clients work for free, while they reap the $cash money$. All the while hanging the threat of not hiring you over your head.

What do you think?

freeCSScart welcomes my logo

UPDATE: I won! read more...

So... I recently entered a logo contest for a new shopping cart that will be coming out soon. Long story short they posted the top 5 logos for voting and mine was on there!

you can see my logo here:
My freeCSScart Logo!

First week at Focal Scape

Last week I started a new job at a design firm called Focal Scape. So far its great. It's in a great area, the people are cool, the moneys good, and I am doing what I love to do. In a strange coincidence Mando who is part of Focal Scape Media Corp turns out to be David from Flip Seven's brother AND... my boss Geoff got his ink done by the same tattoo artist that I go to but like 10 years ago. How bizarre, how bizarre. I like it there. I will attempt to keep doing freelance work as long as I can find time.

I've finally hit the bigtime

Well. As a result I will recieve a board with my design on it. I will post pics when I get it. TheDesignCoalition.com is finally complete. Well... I wouldn't say complete, but presentable I guess. I am gonna keep tweaking with some stuff and try to pretty it up a little but more than anything I am gonna attempt to keep it current and provide awesome links for everyone to be checking out. On that note please send me links to cool stuff you find as far as web stuff goes. I am always looking for new stuff to integrate and test out. As if someone actually cares about my mindless rants. Anywho, I thought this would be a great opportunity to put my coding skills to the test and showcase my latest works. So take a look around, get to know me, and expore the vastness of the world wide web in all its glory. From Gmail to Blogger and everything in between. These guys seem to be working around the clock to make our world a better place. Check out all the Google Services. Gmail alone is such a relief from any other email client I have ever used. The decision to build this blog with Blogger was solely based on the fact that it is now owned by Google and since I have been so happy with their other services, I decided to give it a go. So If you haven't already, check out what Google has been up to.
